# Credits

This guide is an adaptation of the **CyVerse Learning Center** user guide,
written and maintained by the CyVerse Science Team and Learning Center staff.
The University of New Mexico Center for Advanced Research Computing (CARC)
republishes it, restructured and lightly updated, because
[CyVerse is one of CARC's partner platforms](https://carc.unm.edu/docs/about/partners/){target=_blank}.

## Original work

* **Original site:** [learning.cyverse.org](https://learning.cyverse.org){target=_blank}
  (also published at
  [cyverse-learning-materials.github.io/learning-materials-home](https://cyverse-learning-materials.github.io/learning-materials-home/){target=_blank})
* **Original repository:**
  [CyVerse-learning-materials/learning-materials-home](https://github.com/CyVerse-learning-materials/learning-materials-home){target=_blank}
  — this migration starts from commit
  [`b7392d2`](https://github.com/CyVerse-learning-materials/learning-materials-home/tree/b7392d21be4fd6a67d051847f98c81a18e058a12){target=_blank}.
* **Copyright:** © The Arizona Board of Regents (CyVerse). CyVerse is
  operated primarily at the University of Arizona with partners at the Texas
  Advanced Computing Center, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and Indiana
  University.
* **Authors:** the CyVerse Science Team and Learning Center contributors. Each
  adapted page names its exact upstream file and commit in its `sources`
  frontmatter, and the upstream git history records individual authors.
* **Platform internals:** the "Under the hood" notes link to the
  [CyVerse Developer Documentation](https://docs.cyverse.org/){target=_blank}.

## Funding

CyVerse is based upon work supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation
under grants
[DBI-0735191](https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=0735191){target=_blank} and
[DBI-1265383](https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1265383){target=_blank}
(as cited in the original license). The original home page also lists award
[DBI-1743442](https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1743442){target=_blank}.
Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this
material are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views
of the National Science Foundation.

## Citing CyVerse

* Follow the [CyVerse citation policy](https://cyverse.org/policies/cite-cyverse){target=_blank}
  when you use CyVerse resources in your research.
* CyVerse's history and architecture are described in
  [*Cyberinfrastructure for open science*, PLOS Computational Biology](https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pcbi.1011270){target=_blank}
  (doi:10.1371/journal.pcbi.1011270).
* Citable, versioned CyVerse learning materials are archived in the
  [CyVerse Zenodo community](https://zenodo.org/communities/cyverse){target=_blank}.

## License and attribution

The original documentation is licensed under

and so is this adaptation.

!!! quote "Attribution"

    This work is derived from the CyVerse Learning Center documentation,
    Copyright © CyVerse / The Arizona Board of Regents
    ([cyverse.org](https://cyverse.org){target=_blank}), used under CC BY 4.0.
    Changes: pages were reorganized into new sections and URLs, converted to an
    Open Knowledge Format (OKF) v0.2 bundle with provenance frontmatter,
    edited to fix broken links and outdated details, and supplemented with
    links to CyVerse developer documentation and UNM CARC resources. The
    [documentation update log](https://unm-carc.github.io/cyverse/log/) and the repository's `MIGRATION.md`
    list the changes. This adaptation is not endorsed by CyVerse.

CyVerse's own policies, listed at
[cyverse.org/policies](https://cyverse.org/policies){target=_blank}, govern
use of the CyVerse platforms themselves.
